The Conservation Volunteers Bedfordshire

Building an otter holt

Welcome

Welcome to The Conservation Volunteers Bedfordshire - working to protect and enhance the environment across not only our home county, but also areas of Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire.

In the last 12 months our volunteers have completed 2,113 practical workdays on 43 sites, with tasks ranging from habitat creation to footpath clearance and waterways management to vegetable growing.

Working with local communities, our experienced project leaders provide the tools and expertise to enable volunteers to really make a difference, learning new skills along the way.

Get Involved

Check out all our currently planned tasks and events here.

For a variety of environmental tasks join our Weekday Conservation Team.

We meet every Monday and Thursday throughout the year (excluding Bank Holidays and the Christmas period) to tackle a wide variety of tasks such as building bridges, planting hedges, coppicing, renovating dry stone walls or creating new ponds.

Everyone is welcome, whatever their age or background. All you need is suitable clothing, stout footwear, lunch and some time and enthusiasm – everything else is provided for you. Check out our programme and e-mail beds@tcv.org.uk if you’d like to join us.

Want to join us for a virtual task? See our recent activities here at the The Conservation Volunteers Bedford blog site.

If you fancy tackling something more domesticated take a look at our Food Growing Projects.

Growing your own is much more fun in a group - we run sessions at the Brickhill allotments on alternate Saturday mornings, and sessions in the Green Man Garden in Kempston on Wednesday mornings - so why not come along?

No experience or specialist knowledge is needed – learn the necessary skills as you go along in a very hands-on way.
