Pond clearance at Lower Hartshay

Welcome to The Conservation Volunteers in Derby. We co-ordinate and run many projects within the county offering a variety of opportunities for people to get involved in practical conservation work throughout Derbyshire.

The work is varied and offers you the opportunity to gain experience and new skills whilst improving the local environment.

How you could get involved

  • Conservation Holidays - Week and Weekend projects situated in the Peak District National Park providing you with the opportunity to meet like minded people, undertake conservation work to help the environment and relax.
  • Biodiversity Action Team Day Tasks – Weekday practical conservation projects in the local area. These run on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and we pick up from Derby city centre. The work is varied including hedgelaying, tree planting, step construction, scrub clearance and habitat management. The work takes place throughout Derbyshire at various locations, so why not give us a call and get involved!
  • NVQ Training – Level 1 Training in Land Based Operations NVQ and Level 2 Environment Conservation NVQ. These courses offer the opportunity to gain valuable experience and skills which are transferable into the environmental jobs market.
  • Volunteer Officer Programme – There are regular opportunities to get more involved with the running of all of the projects from the Derby office, by becoming a Volunteer Officer. This programme offers you the chance to undertake training courses in leadership, risk assessment and many others and also to aid in the running and delivery of the particular projects. Please check the Volunteer Officer Opportunities List for current vacancies.
