The Conservation Volunteers connects people and green spaces to deliver lasting outcomes for both.
TCV are managing agents for the The Land Trust site Port Sunlight River Park. TCV are currently seeking to recruit a Senior Project Officer, predominantly to manage day to day operations at the park, and also deliver other TCV activities across Cheshire and Merseyside as needed. Duties will include:
- Delivering the management plan for Port Sunlight River Park and Courthouse Woods with support from TCV staff and volunteers, including recruiting volunteers and running practical conservation activities
- Managing the running of the Heritage Centre within the park
- Supporting partner charity Autism Together to run the park café
- Building relationships with local organisations to enhance the park and it's activities
- Liaising with The Land Trust and completing report writing duties
- Secure additional funding to add value to the park and report to funders
The successful applicant will have had at least two years of experience of working in the environment sector or similar. They will be able to demonstrate an understanding of a range of practical conservation tasks, experience in supervising groups of people, which may include vulnerable adults and people with learning difficulties. They will have knowledge of the relationship between volunteering, the natural environment and wellbeing. They will also have an ability to communicate effectively with people with varying abilities as well as children, together with personal qualities of resourcefulness and flexibility.
The ideal candidate will be proactive and resourceful, possessing a problem-solving mindset and the ability to take initiative in overcoming challenges. Adaptability is key, as the candidate must be able to work both independently and as part of a team, adjusting to various working environments and conditions. A strong passion for conservation and the environment is essential, alongside the ability to think creatively and innovatively, bringing fresh ideas and a proactive approach. The candidate should have strong interpersonal skills, excelling in building and maintaining relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders
