Project Officer

Location: Davy Down, Essex

Salary: £19,110.84 pro rata per annum

Hours: 28 per week (part time)

Contract Type: Permanent

About the role

This role is based at Davy Down Riverside Park, near Thurrock with regular visits to satellite sites in West Thurrock and Rayleigh. Initially offered for 6 months, the post will be re-assessed in May with a view to making it permanent.

You will manage these sites by organising and delivering a range of high quality, practical environmental activities for volunteers and the community to engage with. These will include habitat management, species monitoring and a range of practical conservation skills and species identification courses.

There will be a requirement to support the management of budgets and resources, including vehicles, tools and equipment and to maintain safe working practices and Safeguarding.
This role will also require the successful candidate to recruit, supervise and manage volunteers. You will need to maintain records of activities, reporting to funders as needed and assist in income generation, where appropriate.
You will have experience of working with volunteers, a wide range of practical conservation skills and the personality, aptitude and experience to share them with volunteers of differing abilities. IT literacy and basic financial skills are required and a driving licence is essential.
Essential

The successful candidate will have experience of recruiting, training and managing groups of volunteers to deliver practical environmental conservation activities.
Knowledge of biodiversity and habitat management plans will allow you to organise a regular program of high quality projects for a diverse range of participants. A broad range of practical environmental skills will be needed to deliver these activities.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently as well part of a team.

Enthusiasm and drive to achieve TCV mission and aims. An understanding of Health and Safety and Safeguarding and their implementation in working life.

* A full driving licence is required and access to a vehicle is desirable as the role requires some travel.

A full, clean or near clean UK driving licence is required for this post, which has been held for a minimum of one year.

To fulfil the role, you must be resident in the UK and have the right to work in the UK.
