With Richmond Weekday Projects
At Ham Woods
We will be working to halo the lime trees that make up Ham Gate Avenue. We will also clear scrub to reclaim a sightline along the avenue edge. Tree haloing is a practice used to retain space and light around old or special trees. Haloing ensures trunks get ample air flow to protect against potential rot or decay, and reduces the likelihood of competition by other trees. Haloing safeguards old trees and the habitat they provide for other species (birds, invertebrates, lichens, epiphytes). Please wear long-sleeves to this event as we will be removing bramble and working in and around stinging nettles. So let's reduce scratch and skin irritation risk!

We will be installing timber edging and filling the paths with hardwood chip for greater longevity than standard mulch, and installing small 800mm width oak sleeper steps on the inclines through the woods.
