    Ham Woods - Latchmere Brook planting & glade clearance

    We will be completing aquatic planting in Ham Common Ponds and Latchmere Brook, and working to maintain glades and pathways through bramble removal. Oxygenator plants are essential for pond life, contributing to oxygen levels in the water, and will provide further habitat for water-dwelling species.

    Activity description

    It's been quite a few years since we last worked in Burgess Park, but now we have been asked to help improve the access through the Albany Road Woodland section of the park, between the ponds and the Albany Rd perimeter. We will be installing timber edging and filling the paths with hardwood chip for greater longevity than standard mulch, and installing small 800mm width oak sleeper steps on the inclines through the woods.

Our experienced rangers will show you how to use binoculars and lead you on an exploratory walk to spot our feathered friends. 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM – Family Be a Bird Challenge If you're under 8 years old, join us for an interactive bird walk where you can complete beak-tacular challenges such as 'speaking bird," and nest building. 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM – Bird Arts & Crafts Join our drop-in arts and crafts session! We’ll be making toy binoculars which you can take home and enjoy.
