    Activity description

    Join ornithological investigator J D Swann on a walk around Greenwich Ecology Park observing the bird life from its boardwalks, paths and hides. We will consider the words that identify birds and the sounds they make, write about what you see and describe the wildlife. J D will also read from a collection of historical bird poetry featuring local species. 2 guided walks - 1pm to 2pm and 3 to 4pm. Suitable for adults and older children (approx 8 years and above).

    Activity description

    Grow your own food and make new friends at our lovely garden opposite Holloway Hall Community Centre. We meet at Ley Hill every Monday to do some gentle gardening work and sow, grow, and enjoy tasty fresh produce. There are numerous fruit shrubs here which leads to some tasty jams and deserts in the late summer. Our sites have raised beds which are accessible and manageable. We also have a number of benches within the garden where you can enjoy your brew and listen to bird song.

    This week-long playscheme is ALL about getting outside and we aim to be out in the fresh air for most of the day, every day! Past events have included: Shelter building, fire lighting, outdoor games, nature study, campfire cooking, field games, hammock making, wild food walks, woodwork crafts, string making, bows and arrows, stalking and tracking, pyro-carving, and charcoal making. "My daughter says this was the best week of all the summer holidays! She made friends, bows and arrows, campfire food and some wonderful memories. As a parent I can't thank you enough for your kind, caring staff who were great fun and engaged our kids in such a brilliant week of activities." A week-long playscheme with loads of healthy outdoor fun and games, from 9am 'til 5pm each day. £175 for five full days (plus Eventbrite booking fee) (Early bird ticket - £150 - available until end May 2024)

    Join us and get outdoors in 2024! We meet at West Heath every Tuesday to do some gentle gardening work at the Community Garden here. No gardening experience is necessary as we will tell you everything you need to know. We provide tools and gloves. Please wear suitable clothes and shoes - we work outdoors for three hours in all weather conditions. This site is wheelchair accessible and consists of raised beds at various heights.

    Make new friends, get active and get growing!. Bartley Green and Go! is a community focused project at Bartley Green Library. Meeting at the library at 10am, we go for a gentle walk along local green spaces. In addition to having a chat, we will identify any birds that we see along the way. At 11am, it's back to the library for a brew and a biscuit followed by some gardening and food growing in the library garden. We will also learn about traditional conservation activities and discover how to make our gardens more wildlife friendly.

    Flower Power Sensory Plant Walks

    Activity description

    Use all your senses and explore the fascinating and powerful world of plants and flowers in the Ecology Park with 2 guided walks led by the park wardens. Join us for free from 11 am to 12 pm or 2pm to 3pm. Stick around in the park and complete the quiz or younger children trails to learn more about flower power and win a prize. Sessions are free, and no booking is required. These session will take place outdoors from 11am to 12pm and 2 to 3pm. Meet in the gatehouse, 5 minutes before the session starts and come prepared for the weather. Children must be accompanied by adults at all times. Suitable for 8 years old and above.
