    Tree Nursery Volunteering

    Activity description

    Join us for a volunteering taster session at our site in the Ulster Folk Museum, Cultra! This introductory session is aimed at people who are new to volunteering with the Tree Nursery and want to give it a try to see what it's like to volunteer with us. You'll join us for a tour of our site and will spend some time completing seasonal Tree Nursery tasks. Here at the Tree Nursery, we are always looking for volunteers to help us deliver our mission in helping Northern Irelands native woodlands. The vital conservation work we carry out would be impossible without you. So, if you like the sound of getting a bit mucky and having fun, all while doing good for the environment then this is the place for you! *Please email tcv-treenursery@tcv.org.uk to book a space.

    Raking the field margins and ditch at Berrimans Pasture

    Berriman's Pasture is managed as a wildflower meadow. It has two ditches and wide field margins. We will be raking up the arisings from recent brushcutting and creating habitat piles at the edge of the meadow.

    Pond Clearance

    Join us to help keep this lovely village pond in tip top condition. Every year we spend a couple of days clearing out reeds, weeds and the odd bit of rubbish to ensure the pond stays clear and healthy. There are a range of tasks so even if you'd rather stay on the bank you can join in and help move the material that is cleared - through to donning the waders and braving the pond mud.

    Menopause Meet Up

    Activity description

    The Menopause Meet Up, a group to enable mutual support, to try nature-based activities and explore natural strategies for managing this time of life. Every month we focus on a topic related to the menopause that we discuss and share experiences of. We do a nature-based activity using natural materials e.g. willow weaving, ivy baskets, flower balms, sleep mist, hapa zome, hair conditioners, nettle cordage, cooking on the fire. Described by some of attendees as their calm in the storm of both menopause and life!
