Woodchip path and steps installation in Albany Rd Woodland in Burgess Park SE5 0AL

Activity description
We return to Burgess Park again this year, this time to improve the access through the Upper Albany Road Woodland section of the park, between the ponds and the Albany Rd perimeter. We will be installing timber edging and filling the paths with woodchip, and installing small 800mm width oak sleeper steps on the inclines through the woods.

Activity description
Join our regular Wednesday conservation workdays at the Ecology Park and help the wardens carry out vital management work in the park's different habitats - marsh, meadow, lakes, ponds, shingle beach and woodland. You can just turn up on a Wednesday and don't need to book ahead but, the first time you volunteer, we will ask you to fill out a TCV Volunteer Welfare Form (or we can email this to you in advance if you prefer). You will be working as part of a volunteer team with the park wardens, carrying out tasks such as pond clearing, reed cutting, meadow cutting, coppicing (cutting smaller tree stems), digging and weeding.

Projects range from maintenance projects such as fence and structures repairs, to practical conservation activities including hedgelaying and meadow management. No experience necessary, all projects cater to differing levels of physical ability.
