Wild Ways Well is designed to help everyone to experience the wellbeing benefits of spending time in nature. Every Thursday afternoon we meet at Howden Walled Garden to help make this place better for people and wildlife. We take part in a variety of different activities such as conservation gardening, wildlife surveying, natural art, seed and tree planting, health walks and more. Everything is done at a relaxed, easy, pace and we work hard to be welcoming to everyone.

We are working to improve parks and greenspaces around Glasgow. Examples of work to be carried out include: Sowing wildflower meadows, creating community gardens, managing woodlands, building paths, clearing ponds, and much more! Volunteering is a great way to gain new skills and experience the different greenspaces around Glasgow. It also provides an opportunity to meet new people from a range of backgrounds. These groups run every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, from approximately 10am - 3pm. Volunteers can sign up for one or all the days. Volunteers must be over 16. Green Gym volunteers will work on habitat maintenance and other environmental tasks in the grounds of Kinneil Estate. This can include wildflower meadow management, citizen science surveys, vegetation clearance, hedge trimming, pond maintenance, building dead hedges, planting seeds/bulbs, etc.

Beautiful woodland managed as local nature reserve - blankets of bluebells and wildflowers in the spring, heaps of fungi in the autumn, variety of trees, ancient ghyll. Can be uneven in places and can get muddy in winter, sturdy footwear advisable.

With The Paddock Volunteers
At The Paddock Community Nature Park
We invite you to join us at the Paddock for our weekly bird survey in 2024! Whether you are an expert or complete beginner this will be a chance to get outdoors and explore the wildlife on your doorstep. What to expect: - A short talk on a bird species or bird-related topic each week. - A guided transect survey of the whole site. - Help with identifying birds visually and by birdsong. -The data collected will help us develop the Paddock into a Local Nature Reserve. - By booking onto multiple sessions you'll gain a deeper understanding of seasonal cycles, and improve your I.D. skills.
