Food growing and gardening tasks. Each week will vary depending on what needs doing, but can include seed sowing, planting out, watering, composting, weeding, construction of raised beds and garden signs. Tasks are suitable for all abilities. We take a break at around 12.30pm with hot drinks, biscuits and fruit provided.

This is a long term project to improve biodiversity on the site. Each week we'll be doing different activities according to the season to increase and improve habitats for wildlife - it could be tree planting, wildflower surveys, seed collection, litter picking, scrub clearance and more.

Together we'll be creating meadows, building habitats, managing woodland areas and getting hands on with some mini construction- all while helping nature thrive at Kitwell Substation. This is a great opportunity to: - Learn new green skills and gain experience in conservation. - Reconnect with nature and enjoy time in fresh air. - Meet like-minded people and be a part of a supportive, friendly group. No prior experience needed- just bring your enthusiasm, sturdy footwear and a love of the outdoors!

At Milebrook Hall
Join us in the garden at Milebrrok Hall for a couple of hours of relaxed conversation and food growing. We have a greenhouse here to enable us to start the growing season off early. There are also a couple of raised beds which are readily accessible and easy to manage. This session coincides with the coffee morning too, so a warm brew is never far away. All tools and gloves etc are provided for you.

At Croft Quarry Nature Area
Croft Quarry Nature Trail is a popular visit for volunteers, the site has a mixture of habitats including wetland, woodland plantations with open pasture. Our main focus will be to carry out some selective thinning/coppicing of willow along the front edges of the wetland scrapes together with cutting back bramble encroachment. All cut material will be repurposed into eco piles or dead hedge habitat corridors.
