With Conservation Action Team

TCV Belfast & East have many projects and volunteering opportunities that connect people and green spaces across Belfast, Greater Belfast and South Eastern areas of Northern Ireland. Everyone is welcome to volunteer with us regardless of age, ability, experience or background. Working outdoors is good for your physical and mental health, you can engage in real practical activity to improve your local environment which benefits everyone. Our volunteers are committed to making a difference. We offer a wide range of opportunities for people to protect, improve and sustain the environment and increase biodiversity. You can learn new skills, engage in physical activity (without going to the gym) and meet other like-minded people. Volunteering with our CAT team gives you a great opportunity get directly involved in practical conservation work. This can include anything from tree and hedge planting, fencing, shrub and wildflower planting, woodland management, pond construction, living willow structures, path construction, creating wildlife and community gardens. The CAT team operates during the week. You can join us at our pick up point in Belfast or in North Down and travel by minibus to sites all over the Belfast and South Eastern area of Northern Ireland. Tools and training are provided to enable you to carry out the dayââ¬â¢s task.

The Edinburgh Biodiversity Action Team (EBAT) is a practical conservation programme delivered by The Conservation Volunteers (TCV), supporting habitat restoration and biodiversity across Edinburgh. Working as part of the Edinburgh Nature Network and Urban Biodiversity Enhancement Strategy, we help improve, connect, and enhance a wide range of greenspacesâââ‰â¬Âfrom parks and meadows to woodlands, rivers, and community sites. Volunteer activities vary throughout the year and may include: -Meadow management (scything, cutting, and removal of arisings) -Pollinator habitat creation (bee banks, wildflower areas) -Invasive species control and habitat restoration -Woodland management and tree aftercare -Pond and wetland habitat work -Bioblitz sessions and species recording - Citizen science and ecological monitoring (plants, pollinators, habitats) Activities follow a seasonal programme, with meadow work and surveys in spring and summer, and woodland, planting, and habitat creation work in autumn and winter. -Through this work, volunteers contribute to improving biodiversity, supporting pollinators, and restoring ecological processes across the city.

The Forth Valley Biodiversity Action Team undertake various practical conservation tasks and improve green spaces across Falkirk and Stirling. Activities include woodland management, pond clearance, maintaining paths and sowing wildflower seeds. We are dedicated to enhancing biodiversity through a range of activities from woodland management, creating habitats, eradicating invasive species, sowing wildflower seeds and community garden work. Volunteering is a great way to gain new skills and an opportunity to meet new people from a range of backgrounds. Come and join us to help care for the environment, meet new people and spend some time in the great outdoors!

At Greenwich Peninsula Ecology Park
Join us for our final session of the season and create a camouflage outfit for your very own paper mannequin. Discover how animals change their colours and patterns to blend into the world around them, helping them stay safe and hidden. Put your camouflage skills to the test as you design an outfit that helps your mannequin disappear into its surroundings. How well can you blend in? Sessions run on a drop-in basis; they are free and no booking is required. These sessions will take place indoors, in our classroom, from 11am-12pm and 2-3pm. Ask at the gatehouse for directions. Stick around in the park and complete the quiz or the younger childrenâs trail to learn even more about colours in nature.

Welcome to our monthly bird survey! PLEASE MEET AT tottenham lock Ferry Ln, London N17 9NE What to expect: - A short talk on a bird species or bird-related topic each week. - A guided transect survey of the whole site. - Help with identifying birds visually and by birdsong. -The data collected will help us develop the Paddock into a Local Nature Reserve. - By booking onto multiple sessions you̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ll gain a deeper understanding of seasonal cycles, and improve your I.D. skills. Pre-booking is essential, book now to confirm a place. Please be aware Eventbrite booking closes one day before each surveying event at 5pm.
