    Come and spend a rewarding day outdoors learning practical conservation skills. Together we'll be creating meadows, building habitats, managing woodland areas and getting hands on with some mini construction- all while helping nature thrive at Kitwell Substation. This is a great opportunity to: - Learn new green skills and gain experience in conservation. - Reconnect with nature and enjoy time in fresh air. - Meet like-minded people and be a part of a supportive, friendly group. No prior experience needed- just bring your enthusiasm, sturdy footwear and a love of the outdoors!

    Practical Conservation Tasks - Thursday

    Activity description

    We run practical conservation tasks in various locations in Hull and the surrounding area from 9am-4pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays each week. Transport provided from TCV Humber field office. No experience necessary. The work varies from season to season. In winter you could be tree planting, hedge laying, or creating and maintaining ponds and wetlands; whilst in summer you could be constructing wildlife areas in schools, creating footpaths, making hay, or undertaking invasive species control. If you want to get involved in practical work outdoors, learn new skills (or share old ones!) and work with a fun and friendly group then come and join in.

    Activity description

    Visitors to this garden often describe it as a 'hidden gem', tucked away behind Oakwood Hall, a residential property and training centre operated by Inspire North. This group looks after the impressive, mature gardens through a combination of food growing, conservation, woodwork and gardening activities. The group builds on peer support and mentoring, supporting people to build confidence, well being and fitness through gardening type activities. The two acre garden allows lots of opportunity to try out new gardening techniques and enjoy the peaceful 'oasis' that is Oakwood Hall. The group is for people of all abilities and experience, so if you are brand new to gardening, or have 60 years experience. Everyone has something to bring, and something to learn, at Oakwood Hall. The session starts at 10, with a refreshments and a light snack at 11:30. We finish the activity session at 1pm, when lunch is provided. All food is provided by TCV and Inspire North.

    Glasgow Biodiversity Action Team

    Join The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) to enhance the biodiversity of Glasgow’s many fantastic parks and greenspaces. Help care for the local woodlands and wildlife areas, plant trees and hedges, create wildflower meadows, clear invasive plant species, and much more! Conservation volunteering is a great opportunity to make a difference for nature and to combat climate change. TCV projects run daily from Tuesday – Saturday, approximately 10am – 2pm, with city centre pick-ups and drop-offs. There’s no minimum commitment – just join in when you can. Let’s make Glasgow greener together! We work in various sites across Glasgow. Details of upcoming sessions are emailed out each Friday.     Wild Fridays

    Join us for this family friendly volunteering opportunity in Hull Road Park. On Wild Fridays we aim to improve the park for wildlife by creating new nature homes, planting wildflowers, eco crafting, conducting wildlife surveys and more! Most recently we have created an insect hotel, made bumble bee homes and sown wild meadow seed. This relaxed, informal session is great for those wanting to make a difference, meet new people and get outside. The group is diverse open to additional needs and dementia friendly. During our break volunteers can enjoy snacks and hot drinks provided free of charge from the Choose2cafe (if you have any dietary requirements please contact before attending). Do as little or as much as you like, and stay for as long as you wish! Please contact the office for more details. We look forward to meeting you.
