    Practical Conservation Projects

    Activity description

    We run practical conservation tasks in various locations in Hull and the surrounding area from 9am-4pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays each week. Transport provided from TCV Humber field office. No experience necessary. The work varies from season to season. In winter you could be tree planting, hedge laying, or creating and maintaining ponds and wetlands; whilst in summer you could be constructing wildlife areas in schools, creating footpaths, making hay, or undertaking invasive species control. If you want to get involved in practical work outdoors, learn new skills (or share old ones!) and work with a fun and friendly group then come and join in.

    This course runs on Tuesdays for 5 weeks from 29th April to 27th May 2025 from 10.00am to 13.30pm This course is specifically for those who would like to support positive wellbeing through learning to garden inside and outside of their home. The course is aimed at people with or without gardening experience, who want to learn more about greening their spaces and growing plants. On this course you will learn about: microgreens, herbs, succulents, growing food, square foot gardening, helping wildlife, how plants can improve your health, growing and displaying plants and more. This course is FREE if you are in receipt of certain income related benefits; work full-time (37hrs a week) and earn below £25,000 or part-time and earn less than £13.05 per hour; It is £26.25 for those in receipt of state pension. Otherwise contact us for course fees. Evidence of identity and benefits, pension, or salary must be provided before the course starts.     We will be doing a variety of tasks throughout the duration of the project which include; improving the biodiversity of the site, regular wildlife surveys, site maintenance, mapping, improving the grounds, planning and research.
