    Activity description

    Food growing and gardening tasks. Each week will vary depending on what needs doing, but can include seed sowing, planting out, watering, composting, weeding, construction of raised beds and garden signs. Tasks are suitable for all abilities. We take a break at around 12.30pm with hot drinks, biscuits and fruit provided.

    Chatham Place Community Garden

    Join us every FIRST and THIRD Wednesday of the month at our Chatham Place Green Gym in Northfield. We are a friendly and welcoming group who love to grow our own food in a relaxed environment, whilst enjoying our time in the communal garden, and making new friends. No previous experience is required and all tools are provided. Chatham Place and the communal garden is fully accessible, and has on site accessible toilets. There is also space for indoor activities, which we use during bad weather to ensure we can all enjoy gardening and growing our own food all year round!

    Activity description

    We run practical conservation tasks in various locations in Hull and the surrounding area from 9am-4pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays each week. Transport provided from TCV Humber field office. No experience necessary. The work varies from season to season. In winter you could be tree planting, hedge laying, or creating and maintaining ponds and wetlands; whilst in summer you could be constructing wildlife areas in schools, creating footpaths, making hay, or undertaking invasive species control. If you want to get involved in practical work outdoors, learn new skills (or share old ones!) and work with a fun and friendly group then come and join in.

    Creative Woodwork for Wellbeing (Wednesday for FIVE weeks) HT5

    Activity description

    This is a five week course which runs every Wednesday from 23rd April to 21st May 2025 from 10.00am to 4.00pm It is well documented that taking part in creative activities and learning new skills can support positive mental health and wellbeing. The practical and creative techniques and skills learnt on this course will support your positive mental health and wellbeing. Learn how to safely work with wood and design, hand build, and decorate a useful bench or small table for yourself or others. This course is FREE if you are in receipt of certain income related benefits; work full-time (37hrs a week) and earn below £25,000 or work part-time and earn below £13.05 per hour; It is £37.50 for those in receipt of state pension. Otherwise contact us for course fees. Evidence of identity and benefits, pension, or salary must be provided before the course starts.
