    Activity description

    Join us to learn all about growing your own food at Hollybush. This friendly and welcoming group is the perfect chance to learn the basics, or use the skills you already have to look after the growing spaces at our community hub. We have polytunnels, raised beds, orchards, and plenty of chance to test out some recipes for the food we have grown. This group has lots of choice for what you want to do in the session, so if you have any questions about if it is the right group for you, please get in touch.

    Practical Conservation - Wednesdays

    Activity description

    We run practical conservation tasks in various locations in York and the surrounding area from 9am-4.30pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays each week. Transport provided from Tang Hall Community Centre. No experience necessary. The work varies from season to season. In winter you could be tree planting, hedge laying, or creating and maintaining ponds and wetlands; whilst in summer you could be constructing wildlife areas in schools, creating footpaths, making hay, or undertaking invasive species control. If you want to get involved in practical work outdoors, learn new skills (or share old ones!) and work with a fun and friendly group then come and join in.

    Activity description

    Join The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) to enhance the biodiversity of Glasgow’s many fantastic parks and greenspaces. Help care for the local woodlands and wildlife areas, plant trees and hedges, create wildflower meadows, clear invasive plant species, and much more! Conservation volunteering is a great opportunity to make a difference for nature and to combat climate change. TCV projects run daily from Tuesday – Saturday, approximately 10am – 2pm, with city centre pick-ups and drop-offs. There’s no minimum commitment – just join in when you can. Let’s make Glasgow greener together! We work in various sites across Glasgow. Details of upcoming sessions are emailed out each Friday.     Installing leaky dams as part of a Natural Flood Management programme. Thurs 19/02/2026: Site tour and intro, just pop along to find out more. Installation: 5th March, 19th March, 2nd April Leaky dams are made from natural local materials and are designed to slow water down upstream to reduce flood damage downstream by creating puddles and pools where they don't do any harm.

    Richmond Old Burial Ground - Conservation management

    Activity description

    TCV complete a variety of tasks onsite during our volunteer sessions, including vegetation/shrub clearance, litter picking or path maintenance. At the southern end of Richmond Cemetery lies the Richmond Old Burial Ground. Dating back to 1856, the cemetery is now a peaceful and relatively wild woodland around a Grade II listed chapel. This site is managed for biodiversity by Richmond Council.
