Green Gyms are a fun, free, friendly way to keep active in the outdoors, make new friends and boost your health and wellbeing. Join us on Thursday mornings at The Horder Centre in Crowborough for three hours of gentle outdoor activity in the wonderful grounds. Gardening, horticulture, nature projects and conservation - activities will vary and can be made as easy as you like so that everyone can take part. Please get in touch to do a registration form in advance but no need to commit to weekly.

Woodchip path and steps installation in Albany Rd Woodland in Burgess Park SE5 0AL

Activity description
We return to Burgess Park again this year, this time to improve the access through the Upper Albany Road Woodland section of the park, between the ponds and the Albany Rd perimeter. We will be installing timber edging and filling the paths with woodchip, and installing small 800mm width oak sleeper steps on the inclines through the woods.

Guardians of the Park: The Board Game

Activity description
We have turned the park into a life-sized board game for the day…. Collect your adventure map and instructions, create an origami fortune-teller at the gatehouse, and set out on your quest to find the three animal guardians of the park! This is a free, self-led activity in the park available during opening hours (10am-5pm, last entry 4.45pm). Some assistance will be available at the gatehouse to get you started. No booking is required. Stick around in the park and complete the quiz or the younger children’s trail to learn even more about animals.

Amenity management - Removal of Reptile Fence

Join us to remove a reptile fence that runs along our site. This fence is degraded beyond repair. This is a physical conservation activity so a good level of fitness is needed. All equipment is provided and no experience is needed. Please contact the project officer before the session to register interest.
