Join The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) to enhance the biodiversity of West Dunbartonshireâs greenspaces. We meet regularly in The Saltings, Faifley Knowes and Auchnacraig to help care for the local woodlands and wildlife areas, plant trees and hedges, create wildflower meadows, clear invasive plant species, and much more! Conservation volunteering is a great opportunity to make a difference for nature and to combat climate change. Details of upcoming sessions are emailed out each Friday. With Greenwich Peninsula Ecology Park Conservation Volunteers
At Greenwich Peninsula Ecology Park
Join our Saturday conservation workdays at the Ecology Park and help the wardens carry out vital management work in the park's different habitats - marsh, meadow, lakes, ponds, shingle beach and woodland. Places are limited to 10 on a Saturday, so you will need to book in advance by emailing gpep@tcv.org.uk The first time you volunteer, we will ask you to fill out a TCV Volunteer Welfare Form (or we can email this to you in advance if you prefer). You will be working as part of a volunteer team with the park wardens, carrying out tasks such as pond clearing, reed cutting, meadow cutting, coppicing (cutting smaller tree stems), digging and weeding.

Clearing the ponds in The Waterglades of excess vegetation and cutting back vegetation on the banks to let more light in. We will build a deadhedge to create a new habitat with all the coppiced plant material.

Then come along to one of our Practical Conservation Volunteer sessions that take place every 1st Saturday of the month across our 6 Community Woodland based in the Doncaster and Barnsley area. This volunteer session will undertake a range of habitat management and access improvements task for people and nature across all the community woodlands that TCV South Yorkshire team manage. Come along to our Winter Fayre! Create and decorate your own festive wreath, explore our winter trails (with options for all ages), try your luck at the tombola, meet the wonderful volunteers from our Friends group, and warm up with a hot drink while enjoying something tasty from our special winter BBQ& treats stall! Free entry â donations appreciated. Our Winter Fayre is one of the parkâs key fundraising events of the year, and your contribution on the day will make a real difference. All donations help us maintain park infrastructure, support habitat conservation, and contribute to the delivery of our community events for everyone to enjoy.

With York Practical Conservation - Weekend
At TCV York Office (THCC)
We run practical conservation tasks in various locations in York and the surrounding area from 10am-4.30pm on the second and fourth Sundays of each month. Transport is provided from Tang Hall Community Centre and the University Library bus stop on University Road. No experience necessary. The work varies from season to season. In winter you could be tree planting, hedge laying, or creating and maintaining ponds and wetlands; whilst in summer you could be constructing wildlife areas in schools, creating footpaths, making hay, or undertaking invasive species control. If you want to get involved in practical work outdoors, learn new skills (or share old ones!) and work with a fun and friendly group then come and join in.

This is one of two half-day sessions focusing on tool maintenance (cleaning, sharpening, oiling) to give them some TLC after the last few busy months and to prepare them for the wetter winter weather (or storage). If we have time, we will look to tidy up some of the vegetation on site. Please contact Brittany directly to register attendance for this session.
