    Activity description

    Join us every Wednesday morning at out Queen Elizabeth Community Gardens based in the grounds of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. We are a friendly and welcoming group who love to grow our food, and help provide a space where our local wildlife can thrive. We have a variety of different species on site, including a large variety of butterflies in the spring and summer and different birds from woodpeckers to blue tits. No previous experience is required and all tools are provided.

We often see a variety of different species, including many different types of birds. Summer is especially magical when the butterflies take flight, and autumn brings the fungi in all of their delight! Learn about all of our amazing wildlife and how to ID what you see!

    VO open session

    3/3 session: Continuing with the ride management activites, maintaining and enhancing woodland rides (open pathways or clearings) to improve biodiversity, ensure safe access, and support the health of the surrounding ecosystem. Participating in this session benefits participants by fostering hands-on practical skills, building valuable networks with like-minded community members, and contributing to the local community by improving and supporting healthier ecosystems in the local woodland.

    Family Fire Lighting with S'mores and Hot chocolate

    Activity description

    Come along and join TCV staff at the Holt on Brodsworth Community Woodland for this free family friendly campfire session. You'll learn how to light a fire and use a kelly kettle followed by toasting marshmallow over the campfire to make a yummy S'more. This outdoor session is aimed at children 6+, who must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Pre booking is essential, only book a ticket for the child that is participating.

    Activity description

    We run practical conservation tasks in various locations in Hull and the surrounding area from 9am-4pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays each week. Transport provided from TCV Humber field office. No experience necessary. The work varies from season to season. In winter you could be tree planting, hedge laying, or creating and maintaining ponds and wetlands; whilst in summer you could be constructing wildlife areas in schools, creating footpaths, making hay, or undertaking invasive species control. If you want to get involved in practical work outdoors, learn new skills (or share old ones!) and work with a fun and friendly group then come and join in.

    Glasgow's Biodiversity Action Team

    Activity description

    We are working to improve parks and greenspaces around Glasgow. Examples of work to be carried out include: Sowing wildflower meadows, creating community gardens, managing woodlands, building paths, clearing ponds, and much more! Volunteering is a great way to gain new skills and experience the different greenspaces around Glasgow. It also provides an opportunity to meet new people from a range of backgrounds. These groups run every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, from approximately 10am - 3pm. Volunteers can sign up for one or all the days. Volunteers must be over 16.
