This is one of two half-day sessions focusing on tool maintenance (cleaning, sharpening, oiling) to give them some TLC after the last few busy winter months. For anyone organisationally inclined, I also need to sort through and organise sections of the tool store (bags of old waterproofs, grouping boxes of screws/nails, etc) and tidy up some of the vegetation on site. Please contact Brittany directly to register attendance for this session.

At Davy Down
Join us in the woodland to help build a dead hedge âÃÂàa simple, traditional conservation feature that makes a big difference. By weaving fallen branches and natural materials into a living boundary, weâÃÂÃÂll create vital shelter for birds, insects, and small mammals, while naturally defining and protecting the woodland floor. This hands-on activity is a rewarding way to support biodiversity, learn practical countryside skills, and enjoy time outdoors with others. No experience is needed âÃÂàjust sturdy footwear and a willingness to get involved. Contact the local project officer to express interest before the session.

At Sundon National Grid (Chalton)
We have just started a new long term project at this brilliant little site, to improve biodiversity. As we're in the early stages, our first few months are concentrating on recording what's on site now, and keeping on top of the plant species that would otherwise take over - mainly thistles. So our sessions are a mix of scything, raking, and walking over the site to survey what's there. Something for everyone!
