At Mountsorrel Quarry
Starting our practical conservation work at the Mountsorrel (Tarmac) Quarry site. Project work is being carried for the Environmental Restoration Team. Site 4 or Broad Hill is where we will start, cutting and removing excess gorse and buddleia to help maintain the establishing grass heathland habitat. We will be able to take the TCV minibus up to the location of our work. There are a network of public footpaths over the site with some lovely views on a clear day.

At Croft Quarry Nature Area
Croft Quarry Nature Trail is a popular visit for volunteers, the site has a mixture of habitats including wetland, woodland plantations with open pasture. We will be working to open up the new woodland ride, cutting back and clearing unnecessary vegetation encroachment and carrying out some thinning of young trees to extend the ride.

Volunteers will be undertaking a mixture of tasks including general vegetation cut back and clear, hedge trimming and profiling, selective thinning of thorn scrub encroachment. All arisings will be repurposed into eco piles or added to existing dead hedge habitats.
