At Abbey Pumping Station Museum Grounds
Come and join this friendly regular group, which meets weekly to do gardening at the beautiful Abbey Pumping Station. Our group grows it's own vegetables on our allotment (plenty of raised beds for those with mobility issues) and also flowers for the on site sensory "Forget-Me-Not Garden". Tea, biscuits and your chosen level of social interaction are part of our regular time each week :)

At Croft Quarry Nature Area
We will be working to enhance the woodland biodiversity by managing a new woodland ride that is being created to help enhance wildlife especially butterflies. All bramble, self-set growth will be cut back and cleared. There will be some selective thinning of small trees where necessary to further establish the ride. We will be wearing full PPE including safety hard hats which we will provide if you have not got one.

At Croft Quarry Nature Area
Croft Quarry Nature Trail is a popular visit for volunteers, the site has a mixture of habitats including wetland, woodland plantations with open pasture. Our main focus will be to carry out some selective thinning/coppicing of willow along the front edges of the wetland scrapes together with cutting back bramble encroachment. All cut material will be repurposed into eco piles or dead hedge habitat corridors.

At Mountsorrel Quarry
Starting our practical conservation work at the Mountsorrel (Tarmac) Quarry site. Project work is being carried for the Environmental Restoration Team. Site 4 or Broad Hill is where we will start, cutting and removing excess gorse and buddleia to help maintain the establishing grass heathland habitat. We will be able to take the TCV minibus up to the location of our work. There are a network of public footpaths over the site with some lovely views on a clear day.
