We will be installing timber edging and filling the paths with hardwood chip for greater longevity than standard mulch, and installing small 800mm width oak sleeper steps on the inclines through the woods.

At Hatherop Park
We will be constructing a large stag beetle loggery within the Hatherop Conservation Area. We will also work to repair the dead hedge protecting the marginal plant growth at the pond. We will be using wood from the recently thinned woodland at the back of the site, which we will cut to size and move to location with the van. Stag beetles are a globally threatened species and their numbers have been declining across UK & Europe, primarily due to the lack of appropriate habitat - dead wood. Stag beetle larvae spend 4-7 years feeding on decaying wood before emerging as adults to breed. The adults do not feed and rely exclusively on the fat reserves stored during feeding by the larval stage. Building loggeries and stumperies provides a much needed habitat and food source to support the stag beetle life cycle.
