An activity with TCV Leicester Volunteers
Activity date: Wednesday 29th January 2025
Start time: 10:00
Finish time: 14:30
We will focus on clearing all dead, encroaching/excess vegetation growth from the site ditches and along the margins where it is safe to do so. Where the site flood meadows are under water we will hopefully be able to locate safer areas of work, if not we may have to reschedule the work. It might be a good idea to bring wellingtons.
There will be a 9.30am minibus pick-up for volunteers from the Victoria Park Car Park, Granville Rd LE1 7RY. Volunteers wait in the area close to the City Council's stone lodge buildings just up from the toilet block. Alternatively please meet with us at our Evington Park House office for 9am, there is free all-day safe parking in the Evington Park Car Park. If you require a seat on the minibus please reserve your place by contacting the project lead on 07764 655482 or email c.forty@tcv.org.uk thank you.
Everards Meadows, Cooper Way Leicester, LE19 2AN
70 acres of green space, Everards Meadows is one of the country's first new nature reserves seeking to return water and wildlife to the city. The site is intersected with cycle routes and public footpaths. As the challenges associated with flooding increase across the city the Meadows provide a hugely important mechanism to reduce flood risk whilst also improving the natural environment for people and wildlife.
