An activity with TCV Leicester Volunteers
Activity date: Thursday 23rd October 2025
Start time: 10:00
Finish time: 14:30
Kings Walk spinney has a mature Oak canopy with the understorey comprising of predominantly Damson fruit trees, yew, holly, mixed thorn and sycamore regeneration growth along with snowberry. We will be uprooting self-set ash, sycamore and clearing a good section of the snowberry. The aim is not to let the snowberry colonise the understorey floor and thereby not allowing sunlight to reach the ground level for other beneficial woodland plant. This plant colonizes very quickly without any ongoing management.
There will be a 9.30am minibus pick-up for a limited number of volunteers from the Victoria Park car Park, Granville Rd LE1 7RY. Please wait close to the Leicester City Council stone lodge buildings just up from the toilet block. If you require a seat reserving on the minibus please contact the project lead beforehand by either email: c.forty@tcv.org.uk or mobile: 07764 655482 thank you.
