An activity with Bedfordshire Environmental Action Team
Activity date: Saturday 25th October 2025
Start time: 10:30
Finish time: 15:00
This is our annual trip to the pond to help keep on top of vegetation growth and prevent the pond filling up with plants entirely. Pulling out some of the reeds by the root helps keep the balance of the pond healthy and ensures there's plenty of open water as well as cover for wildlife. We'll provide the waders, the tools and the tea and biscuits, you just need yourself and some enthusiasm!
Minibus pick up at The Cemetery Gatehouse, Foster Hill Road, MK41 7TD at 9.15am. Return by 4pm.
Toddington village pond, Market Square Toddington, LU5 6AX
Large square pond within a grassed area, walled off from street as a memorial garden. Pond has distinct historical interest, traced back to maps of 1581. A decline in maintenance in recent years has led to drop in water level and increase in nutrient levels.
