Activity description

This is a five week course which runs every Monday from 10th November to 8th December 2025 from 10.00am to 4.00pm
Health and Wellbeing courses are designed to help you to improve or take care of your physical and/or mental health and wellbeing.
This hands-on course is all about using creativity to boost wellbeing, tackle feelings of isolation, and support mental health. You'll learn practical woodwork skills that you can use in everyday life - no experience needed! Whether you're a complete beginner or just want to refresh your skills, you'll get to safely use common hand tools, measure wood accurately for simple projects, create basic joints and fixings. It's a relaxed and supportive environment where you can learn new skills, meet others, and enjoy the process of making a planter and a small garden store with your hands.
This course is FREE if you are in receipt of certain income related benefits; work full-time (37hrs a week) and earn below £25,750 or work part-time and earn below £13.85 per hour; It is £37.50 for those in receipt of state pension. Otherwise contact us for course fees. Evidence of identity and benefits, pension, or salary must be provided before the course starts.

Please note that this is a very hands-on, physical course that requires a level of strength and dexterity, and you will be using sharp hand tools. If you have a disability or problem with mobility, then please contact us to discuss how we can help you before you sign up to the course.
In the first session we will introduce you to the Hollybush site, your tutor and other learners so you feel welcome and confident, and make sure you have the support and equipment you need.
