An activity with TCV Leicester Volunteers

Making a welcome return to this attractive Leicestershire village green open space. A site of mixed species native broad-leaved trees, small hazel coppice with open grassland, hedges and a well established pond habitat. Our focus will be on removing a section of reedmace from the pond, and to cut back and clear end of season marginal vegetation growth.
There will be a 9.30am minibus pick-up for a limited number of 4 volunteers. Volunteers will meet for the minibus in the Victoria Park car park off Granville Rd, please wait in the area of the stone lodge buildings near the London Rd exit/entrance. Community Open Space, with open pasture, newly planted fruit trees, young oaks, Ash, Field Maple and silver Birch together with other species. There is also an arboritum and the scope to develope a shrubbery. br>The wetland habitat is focused on the sizeable pond.

Those wishing to make their own way to the site please try and arrive for 10am. We will aim to start the volunteer work at 10.15am. The site entrance is just out of the village on the Willoughby Rd (left side), nearest postcode is LE17 5NP. Please wear suitable outdoor clothing and supportive footwear or wellington boots. There is safe parking on the roadside verge or just inside the site entrance gates if ground conditions are not too wet.
