Pulling out Creeping Thistle from Ferry Marsh, which is a SSSI on the edge of Wivenhoe. The thistle is thriving in the hot, dry weather and is in danger of choking other plantlife.
Britannia car park, behind Colchester Town station at 10a.m. or in Wivenhoe station car park at 10.10. Please note that the station car park charges for parking. Alternatives nearby include the WTC car park opposite the Greyhound pub, or Park Road, or the Wivenhoe Woods car park at the end of Rosabelle Avenue.

Ferry Marsh is a local nature reserve and SSSI. Water Voles, Kingfishers, Reed Warblers and Bearded Tits have been recorded at the site. Ferry Marsh often floods and there are plans to maintain a higher water level to benefit Water Voles, Otters and other species.
