Crane Park (A316 Meadow) - Meadow management

An activity with Richmond Weekday Projects

Activity date: Wednesday 9th July 2025

Start time: 10:00
Finish time: 16:00

Book online at Eventbrite

Activity description

We will be working in one of the five meadows in Crane Park, working to control dominant and unwanted plant species (e.g. brambles, creeping thistle, and burdock). In this session, we will be working in the A316 meadow, on the corner of the A316 and Hospital Bridge Road. Some species can fast become dominant/invasive in open meadow spaces. They will often form dense stands in spring and summer, which shades out wildflower and grass species. Removal is often done in spring and early summer, before seed heads are able to form, to contain the growth/spread of the plant. Dependent on species, we will be utilising a mixture of mattocking, digging, and hand pulling removal techniques.

Meeting place

We will meet at the A316 Meadow, on the intersection of Hospital Bridge Road and the A316, at 10am. Look out for the TCV van which will be parked onsite. What3words meeting point: ///year.mile.bunny
