An activity with Richmond Weekday Projects
Activity date: Wednesday 10th September 2025
Start time: 10:00
Finish time: 16:00
We will be working along the Walk to re-coppice small willow stands growing along the Thames river bank. We will be working along the edge of a riverbank, on the tidal Thames, so having sturdy shoes with a decent grip is a must as the ground will be muddy/slippery.
We meet along Cholmondeley Walk, where it meets the end of Old Palace Lane (///modes.tennis.cone) at 10am. Look for the TCV van.
Cholmondeley Walk, Cholmondeley Walk, Richmond,, TW9 1NT
The only walk by the river at Richmond, prior to the middle of the 18th century, was past the site of the Old Palace. It was called Cholmondeley Walk after the Earl of Cholmondeley who lived in a house on the site now occupied by Maids of Honour Row. br> br>Cholmondeley Walk now forms part of the towpath that lies between Old Palace Lane and Friars Lane. It is situated on land reclaimed from the river and is managed as part of the tidal Thames.
