Activity date: Tuesday 6th January 2026

Start time: 10:00
Finish time: 16:00

Book online at Eventbrite

Activity description

We will be working within and around Ham Pond completing vegetation management, including: - Caring for the 160 whips planted in 2025 by canopy lifting larger vegetation, weeding and fixing the temporary fencing. - Completing annual reed bed management, through the push back of reed growth from vistas, digging out excess reed growth encroaching into the pond, and cutting a section of reed bed. - Coppicing the 4 pollarded willow trees on the island (can only be done when water levels allow us to wade across). If you have a body board you'd be happy for us to use to float arisings back off the island - please get in touch!). We will provide waders and gloves. If you are of a smaller foot size, I would recommend bringing an extra thick pair of socks as the smallest wader size we have available is a 7. If these tasks are completed, we will look to move to the adjacent Ham Avenues.

Meeting place

Meet at the north western corner of Ham Common Pond at 10am. Look for the TCV van parked on Ham Common. What3words: ///known.yards.bake
