An activity with Richmond Weekday Projects
Activity date: Thursday 2nd April 2026
Start time: 10:00
Finish time: 16:00
We will be working to finish the removal of bramble roots and creeping ivy in the new glade adjacent to the woodland, and will look to finish the day by seeding both new glade sites. Other tasks include continuing work opening up the undergrowth in the woodland to make way for a future nature walk. Twickenham Rough is a greenspace managed for biodiversity by Richmond Council. The new glades will provide habitat diversity in this greenspace, and will be a hotspot for pollinators and people alike. Our work in the woodland will involve removing dominant species and thinning out under-canopy growth to improve sightlines to ensure the safety of greenspace users. Brittany is away on leave, this session will be covered by her lovely colleague Laurie.
Meet at Craneford Way greenspace, next to the FORCE woodpecker bench, at 10am. Look for the TCV van. Meeting point: https://what3words.com/search.chill.slower

This linear conservation site links Twickenham station to Marsh Farm Lane and open spaces along the River Crane along a well-surfaced pathway through woodland and bramble thicket. The Rough provides the final link in a surfaced route through open spaces along the River Crane between the station and west Twickenham. The open habitats here are part of a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation for the rough grassland, tall herbs, scrub and young woodland. The habitats also have value for breeding birds and bats. There are remnants of rail track and a buffer stop highlighting the land’s railway heritage.
