An activity with TCV Leicester Volunteers
Activity date: Tuesday 21st April 2026
Start time: 10:15
Finish time: 14:30
We will be carrying out a selective spring grass cut in two of the eight grassland parcels which are devoid of wildflowers. All arisings will be hand raked and moved to the field margins where it will compost down. Our other important task will be to uproot thistle, it is important to maintain a clean wildflower/grassland mix where possible especially as this grass will be conditioned into hay for animal feed at the end of summer, therefore the removal of thistle from the grassland parcels is deemed necessary.
There will be a 9.30am minibus pick up for volunteers from the Victoria Park Car Park, Granville Rd LE1 7RY. Volunteers wait in the area close to the stone lodge buildings just up from the toilet block. Please reserve your seat on the minibus beforehand by contacting the project lead on either c.forty@tcv.org.uk or 07764 655482 thank you. Alternatively please meet with us at the Evington Park Depot/House LE5 6DE for 9am if this easier. Free safe parking is available at the Evington Park Car Park just opposite the library.
