An activity with North Essex Biodiversity Action Team (Midweek)
Activity date: Tuesday 2nd June 2026
Start time: 10:00
Finish time: 15:00
The pedestrian and cycle path along Salary Brook is a well-used route between Greenstead and the university, skirting an important local nature reserve. We will be helping to keep the path free from brambles and nettles, which helps people to appreciate the adjacent green spaces.
Pick up from Britannia car park near Colchester Town station at 10a.m. or meet at Oberon Close at 10.10 (///silk.librarian.affair)

Salary Brook nature reserve is near Scarfe Way, off Avon Way, Greenstead, Colchester. It runs from Bromley Road to the A133. Salary Brook runs the entire length of the reserve. There is a network of grassed footpath with a hard surface joint pedestrian/cycle path parallel to Avon Way. There are two children's play areas, conservation grassland meadows and 3 fishing ponds. There are sections of wetland (the area is a hot spot for water voles) with open farmland along the south end border of the reserve.
