Activity description

The Edinburgh Biodiversity Action Team (EBAT) is a practical conservation programme delivered by The Conservation Volunteers (TCV), supporting habitat restoration and biodiversity across Edinburgh. Working as part of the Edinburgh Nature Network and Urban Biodiversity Enhancement Strategy, we help improve, connect, and enhance a wide range of greenspaces—from parks and meadows to woodlands, rivers, and community sites. Volunteer activities vary throughout the year and may include: -Meadow management (scything, cutting, and removal of arisings) -Pollinator habitat creation (bee banks, wildflower areas) -Invasive species control and habitat restoration -Woodland management and tree aftercare -Pond and wetland habitat work -Bioblitz sessions and species recording - Citizen science and ecological monitoring (plants, pollinators, habitats) Activities follow a seasonal programme, with meadow work and surveys in spring and summer, and woodland, planting, and habitat creation work in autumn and winter. -Through this work, volunteers contribute to improving biodiversity, supporting pollinators, and restoring ecological processes across the city.
