Activity description

Come and join us to help our waterways! This task will involve removing invasive Himalayan Balsam plants from the brook near Bramble Close, Luton. Balsam is easy to remove and will open up the riverbank allowing native species to thrive again. All tools and instruction will be provided, along with tea, coffee and biscuits! Please wear long sleeved tops and long trousers for this task. A sunhat and wellies will be needed as we will be in full sun and also in shallow water throughout. Transport available from our Bedford office on request,

Meeting place

Transport is available from our office on Foster Hill Road, Bedford at 9.15am. Please contact us in advance to let us know that you require a seat on the minibus. If you are meeting us in Luton, parking is available on Bramble Close or Bramble Road. We will meet volunteers on site at 10.15am. Stretch of brook-waterway, running from Lewsey Park Sports centre and continuing along adjacent to Bramble Close and the Hockwell Ring Family Hub Centre. br>Shallow water course, accessible from the bank in various places. br>Dense seasonal vegetation present on banks. br>Short length of clear and accessible tunnel beneath bridge at Strangers Way.
