Activity description

We will be working within Ham Lands, in collaboration with Friends of Ham Lands and LBRuT, to manage the meadows, scrub and woodland. We will be working to reclaim grassland edges by: - Repairing a dead hedge - Removing self-set native saplings - Removing invasive saplings (false acacia & Holm oak) - Cutting back bramble & clematis - Removing horseradish - Litter picking

Meeting place

We will be meeting in Ham Lands, in the grassland located south of the Thames Young Mariners Club. To access via Riverside Drive, use the Ham Lands entrance directly south of the Thames Young Mariners driveway. Continue along this road for 5 minutes until you see the TCV van parked on track. To access from the towpath, walk north from Teddington Lock until you get to a large sloped path with a bench. Take this right/eastern turn and follow the path into the meadow. Site description

Ham Lands is a Local Nature Reserve and a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation. The site has a rich mix of habitats, mainly grassland, scrub, woodland and is sensitively managed by Richmond Council with the support of Friends of Ham Lands.

We provide hot drinks, so please bring your own mug (and spoon). Booking on Eventbrite is required. Please DO NOT attend our sessions if you have tested positive for Covid-19 in the past 5 days.
