An activity with Bedfordshire Environmental Action Team
Activity date: Sunday 16th August 2026
Start time: 10:15
Finish time: 3:00
Join us to help remove invasive Himalayan Balsam from the waterway in Luton. No previous experience needed and all instruction will be provided. We will spend the day working in a small watercourse, Lewsey Brook, pulling out invasive Himalayan Balsam plants before they have time to set seed! Wellies are recommended as although the brook has no water in it at present, it can still be very muddy. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided for all volunteers! Long sleeved clothing, long trousers and a sun hat are essential.
Transport on our minibus is available from our office at The Cemetery Gatehouse, Foster Hill Road Bedford at 9.15am. Pickup from other locations in Bedford can be arranged by request. Call Jen on 07740 899633 for details. Or you can meet us on site at Mayne Avenue in Luton at 10.15am. We will meet outside the Hockwell Ring Community Centre entrance.
