Terrace Fields - Grassland management

An activity with Biodiversity Action Team (West London)

Activity date: Thursday 3rd September 2026

Start time: 10:00
Finish time: 16:00

Book online at Eventbrite

Activity description

Join us in volunteering at the scenic Terrace Fields to clear scrub encroachment in the grassland and improve pathway accessibility. This greenspace is managed for biodiversity by Richmond Council. We will be clearing brambles and suckering hardwood growth from the grassland slopes to retain open space. We will also complete a site-wide litter pick to remove pollution from this environment. Urban neutral grassland habitats require management throughout the year to ensure they remain open habitat. Grasslands can support a diverse community of wildflowers, grasses and invertebrates. PLEASE NOTE we will largely be working across a grassy slope. Alternative tasks will be found for those requiring flat ground.

Meeting place

Meet at the top of Terrace Fields along the Richmond Hill viewing platform, opposite the Roebuck. Look out for the TCV van. What3words meeting point: ///tips.whips.palms
