The grassland at Lower Lodge Farm has a great diversity of plants and insect life. To prevent the meadows from reverting to dense woodland, we remove saplings from sections of the site on rotation.
Pick up from Britannia car park at 10a.m. or meet at Chaney Road, near Dixon Way, at 10.15a.m.

The Colne Local Nature Reserve lies on the north side of the river Colne on rising ground between Essex University and Wivenhoe. An 85 acre reserve consisting of 3 main areas. Wivenhoe Woods is a mixed coppice and secondary woodland, Ferry Marsh is a former grazing marsh and Lower Lodge Farm is mainly scrub and grassland.
