Pond Close is an evolving wetland habitat with boundary mixed species trees and hedges, the site has a rich species diversity. A tranquil village location benefiting nature and human/community enjoyment and involvment. Our project task will focus primarily on selectively removing excess reed growth from the pond and pond margin. All reed removed will be stacked a short distance away and left for about one week before it is removed from site. There will be a small amount of coppicing hazel and general vegetation cut back.
We will provide a minibus pick up at 9.30am for volunteers from the Victoria Park car park, Granville Rd LE1 7PA. Please wait close to the Leicester City Council stone lodge buildings just up from the toilet block. Volunteers wishing to arrive at site using their own vehicles, please park next to the site either on Pinfold Lane or the main site access on Main St. The TCV minibus/crew van will park on Main St. Volunteers should remember to bring their PPE including suitable gloves, safety hat and hi vis branded tabard. These will be supplied on the day where required. Hot soup, rolls will be provided on-site by the local pub for the volunteers.
