Timber installation work including a new access gate with post and rail fence work.

Activity description

Our work will be focused on detaching the old rotten 1.2m wide field gate and replacing with a new timber field gate of the same measurements. A section to timber post and rail fencing will be taken down where this broken and rotten to be replaced with new timber posts and rails. This will be a construction process that everybody can get involved with, helping to improve and maintain access to the nature site for the benefit of all.

Meeting place

There will be a 9.30am minibus pick up for volunteers from the Victoria Park Car Park, Granville Rd LE1 7PA. Volunteers will wait in the area of the stone lodge buildings just up from the London Rd entrance gates. Volunteers wishing to make their own way to the site can access and park their vehicles using the Mill Lane entrance off the main Kilworth Rd (A4304). Traveling through Husbands Bosworth on the Kilworth Rd the Millennium Wood will be on left side as you go down the hill just outside of the village. Mill Lane turning is on your left side at the bottom of the hill. Site access is the first left off Mill Lane. Please remember to bring your own lunch and wear suitable outdoor clothing for this time of year.
