Activity description

Learn to ID local species at our weekly survey at The Paddock. All levels and families are welcome. We invite you to join us at the Paddock for our weekly survey in 2024! Whether you are an expert or complete beginner this will be a chance to get outdoors and explore the wildlife on your doorstep. What to expect: - A short talk on local species ID topic each week. - A guided transect survey of the site. -The data collected will help us develop the Paddock into a Local Nature Reserve and increase biodiversity. - By booking onto multiple sessions you'll gain a deeper understanding of seasonal cycles, and improve your I.D. skills. Pre-booking is essential, book now to confirm a place. Please be aware Eventbrite booking closes one day before each surveying event at 5pm. More info: You will be issued with a field recording sheet, species guide sheets, a clipboard and a pencil. If you own further ID guides/books, you are welcome to bring them along. Individual surveys will run outdoors for about an hour, please be sure to check the weather/temperature and dress accordingly. COVID-Safe Measures: Whilst social distancing and COVID-safe measures are no longer legally required, you are welcome to wear a mask if you would like to. Please consider others' wishes who may still want to social distance, and always wash hands before eating/drinking on TCV projects. Under 18s: All ages can join in the survey, the route is a little muddy but buggies are welcome! If you want to volunteer and are 16-17 years old please ensure you get in touch with us at thepaddock@tcv.org.uk, as you will need a completed parent/ guardian consent form to join in. For everyone aged 15 and under they will also need a parent/guardian with them to attend.
