The Finance Director is responsible for discharging strategic financial management and financial control for the Charity to ensure the long-term financial sustainability of TCV. This role is also accountable for a viable, growing commercial and business model.
As a member of Leadership Team (LT), the role will work in partnership with the Board and fellow LT members to execute the Charity's strategy - 'Better Nature for All'. This requires clear communication, building a positive One TCV culture and having oversight of business partnering activities between Finance and other directorships, specifically Operations.
The role will be accountable for the collection and processing of financial data to ensure decisions and strategy are informed by accurate integrated information and analysis.
The role will be responsible for leading the financial planning, monitoring and performance and advice and report to the Board, CEO and LT on all financial matters, including recommending changes that will improve the financial performance and reduce TCV financial risk.
The Finance Director is also present on various sub-committees across TCV related to financial control, audit and financial risk.
As the leader of the finance team, you are accountable for ensuring they are appropriately motivated and developed and so that they carry out their responsibilities to the required standard and that we are compliant with all financial targets and statutory regulations. You will demonstrate the ability to consistently and supportively lead, motivate and empower a team in a commercial or not-for-profit environment.
The role acts as Company Secretary for the charity, ensuring all legal and regulatory compliance and accurate reporting to Companies House and the Charity Commission, requiring a sound understand of Charity governance and reporting.
The successful candidate will possess several years of experience in a senior finance role, preferably in the Charity sector, including all aspects of accounting and finance. With previous management responsibility for a finance team, you will also demonstrate excellent numeracy, mathematical and IT skills with a strong attention to detail.
You must be skilled in analysing complex information to make informed financial judgements and justify decisions/recommendations, presenting these in an engageable way. This will require an in-depth understanding and experience of cash flow management, bank reconciliation, debt collection, management accounts, grant/contract monitoring, audit, annual reports, budgeting/business planning and risk management,
The successful candidate will demonstrate an excellent proficiency in accountancy software and its use in making processes more efficient and effective and hold a financial qualification (ACA, CIMA or ACCA) or equivalent experience.
A full driving licence is not required; however, the role does include travel to various TCV locations for attendance at Board and other committee meetings.
To fulfil the role, you must be resident in the UK and have the right to work in the UK.
