An activity with Community Woodfuel Volunteers

This is a great opportunity for you to learn about the craft of coppicing, and it also to helps maintain and manage local woodlands for people and nature over the coming years. We'll also be making dead hedges from the cut branches too, providing valuable habitat. You are also welcome to take away the logs you cut for your wood burner if you wish.

This lovely site was created on a coal waste site, but now has two lakes, extensive wild flower meadows and young woodland. It is home to wild orchids, sand martins and internationally rare lowland heathland.

These will include activities such as coppicing, dead hedging, bulb planting, tree planting, formative pruning, Rhododendron control, hedgelaying and dry stone walling.
