This session looks after the food growing areas at Hollybush Conservation Centre in Kirkstall, Leeds. The group helps to look after the accessible community Hub at Hollybush. The sessions have a range of activities each week, and aim to offer an opportunity for everyone to get involved. There is no growing experience needed, with group leaders supporting the group in a variety of organic growing techniques using raised beds, ground level beds, orchards and in a paved polytunnel. If you have any questions about the accessibility of the session, please get in touch. Work is carried out in small groups across the site, with the session planned to accommodate access needs.

A variety of management techniques used including growing plants from seed & propagation, and planting and providing homes for wildlife. Visitors to this garden often describe it as a 'hidden gem', tucked away behind Oakwood Hall, a residential property and training centre operated by Inspire North. This group looks after the impressive, mature gardens through a combination of food growing, conservation, woodwork and gardening activities. The group builds on peer support and mentoring, supporting people to build confidence, well being and fitness through gardening type activities. The two acre garden allows lots of opportunity to try out new gardening techniques and enjoy the peaceful 'oasis' that is Oakwood Hall. The group is for people of all abilities and experience, so if you are brand new to gardening, or have 60 years experience. Everyone has something to bring, and something to learn, at Oakwood Hall. The session starts at 10, with a refreshments and a light snack at 11:30. We finish the activity session at 1pm, when lunch is provided. All food is provided by TCV and Inspire North.

Join us for the annual celebration of Kirkstall artists and makers on the Kirkstall Art Trail! Celebrating its 10th year in 2025, the Kirkstall Art Trail, which runs over 19th and Sunday 20th July, covers 36 venues and will feature over a hundred artists. Check them all out at https://kirkstallarttrail.co.uk/ This year Hollybush will be Venue 33, hosting 19 artists and makers in our barn, classroom, roundhouse and gardens so do drop in if you can over the weekend.
