We invite you to join us at the Paddock for our weekly bird survey in 2024! Whether you are an expert or complete beginner this will be a chance to get outdoors and explore the wildlife on your doorstep. What to expect: - A short talk on a bird species or bird-related topic each week. - A guided transect survey of the whole site. - Help with identifying birds visually and by birdsong. -The data collected will help us develop the Paddock into a Local Nature Reserve. - By booking onto multiple sessions you'll gain a deeper understanding of seasonal cycles, and improve your I.D. skills. Join our regular Saturday conservation workdays at the Ecology Park and help the wardens carry out vital management work in our different habitats, including marsh, meadow, lakes, ponds, shingle beach and woodland. You must book a space in advance for our Saturday workdays by emailing gpep@tcv.org.uk. The first time you volunteer we will ask you to fill out a TCV Volunteer Welfare Form. Spaces are limited to 10 volunteers on a Saturday. You will be working as part of a volunteer team with the park wardens, carrying out tasks such as pond clearing, reed cutting, meadow cutting, coppicing (cutting smaller tree stems), digging and weeding.
