    Woodland understorey vegetation management

    With TCV Leicester Volunteers

    At Kings Walk Spinney

    Activity description

Kings Walk spinney has a mature Oak canopy with the understorey comprising of predominantly Damson fruit trees, yew, holly, mixed thorn and sycamore regeneration growth along with snowberry. We will be uprooting self-set ash, sycamore and clearing a good section of the snowberry. The aim is not to let the snowberry colonise the understorey floor and thereby not allowing sunlight to reach the ground level for other beneficial woodland plant. This plant colonizes very quickly without any ongoing management.
