The Green Gym is a unique way to get fit, transform the environment, meet new people and learn new skills. Each session includes a range of activities, designed to suit all abilities. Grass Strimming and raking

Activity description
This site is a rare and important grassland habitat so we're helping to manage it for wildlife by keeping nutrient levels low. Strimming the grass off and raking it away from the grassland means nettles and thistles are less likely to thrive, giving more chance for wildflowers to do well.

Hedge and woodland boundary work

Activity description
Volunteers will be undertaking a mixture of tasks including general vegetation cut back and clear, hedge trimming and profiling, selective thinning of thorn scrub encroachment. All arisings will be repurposed into eco piles or added to existing dead hedge habitats.

This month our Swadlincote volunteering day will be at Midway Fishponds rather than Swadlincote Woods Our team will be working on outdoor practical conservation activities to improve the site for both wildlife and local people. Tasks on the day will vary, but there will be something for everyone, no matter what your level of fitness. The day runs 10-3 with breaks for tea and for lunch
