    Practical Conservation - Thursdays

    Activity description

    We run practical conservation tasks in various locations in York and the surrounding area from 9am-4.30pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays each week. Transport provided from Tang Hall Community Centre. No experience necessary. The work varies from season to season. In winter you could be tree planting, hedge laying, or creating and maintaining ponds and wetlands; whilst in summer you could be constructing wildlife areas in schools, creating footpaths, making hay, or undertaking invasive species control. If you want to get involved in practical work outdoors, learn new skills (or share old ones!) and work with a fun and friendly group then come and join in.

    Wild Ways Well is designed to help everyone to experience the wellbeing benefits of spending time in nature. Every Thursday afternoon we meet at Howden Walled Garden to help make this place better for people and wildlife. We take part in a variety of different activities such as conservation gardening, wildlife surveying, natural art, seed and tree planting, health walks and more. Everything is done at a relaxed, easy, pace and we work hard to be welcoming to everyone.

    Glasgow's Biodiversity Action Team

    Activity description

    We are working to improve parks and greenspaces around Glasgow. Examples of work to be carried out include: Sowing wildflower meadows, creating community gardens, managing woodlands, building paths, clearing ponds, and much more! Volunteering is a great way to gain new skills and experience the different greenspaces around Glasgow. It also provides an opportunity to meet new people from a range of backgrounds. These groups run every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, from approximately 10am - 3pm. Volunteers can sign up for one or all the days. Volunteers must be over 16.     This site is a brilliant Site of Special Scientific Interest, bursting with wildflowers and all manner of wildlife. To keep it in excellent condition for wildflowers we need to cut the grass once a year to keep soil nutrient levels low. Every Friday EXCEPT the first Friday of the month.
