Visitors to this garden often describe it as a 'hidden gem', tucked away behind a training centre and residential care home. The group look after the extensive gardens, reclaimed by TCV volunteers since 2016. The group follows the Green Gym framework, supporting people to build confidence, well being and fitness through gardening type activities. The size of the garden means that there is space for people to experiment with their own gardening styles, in line with TCV values. The group has a well established core of volunteers, as well as welcoming new comers to the group. Everyone is welcome, whether they have 60 years gardening experience, or have never gardened before in their life. With help from 'The Friends of Skelton Grange', our Easter Good Friday event is a glorious outdoor trail wandering through the woods and gardens at Skelton Grange. Complete a treasure hunt along the way and trade in your trove for a chocolatey Easter surprise at the end! The event is a fundraiser for the Centre, but also a great chance for families to enjoy some Easter fun! The Skelton Cafe will be open to buy hot drinks and sweet treats at the end. There will be a campfire along the trail and crafts/activities to be announced. Tickets are required for all children attending the event, but babies (18 months or under) are welcome free. Adults do not require a ticket if they are accompanied by a child or children. Tickets are £7.50 (plus Eventbrite booking fee). Choose your timeslot between 11am and 1pm.

This is a five week course which runs every Wednesday from 23rd April to 21st May 2025 from 10.00am to 4.00pm It is well documented that taking part in creative activities and learning new skills can support positive mental health and wellbeing. The practical and creative techniques and skills learnt on this course will support your positive mental health and wellbeing. Learn how to safely work with wood and design, hand build, and decorate a useful bench or small table for yourself or others. This course is FREE if you are in receipt of certain income related benefits; work full-time (37hrs a week) and earn below £25,000 or work part-time and earn below £13.05 per hour; It is £37.50 for those in receipt of state pension. Otherwise contact us for course fees. Evidence of identity and benefits, pension, or salary must be provided before the course starts.
